Jamie doesn't know how to swim. Through the lens of her pool lessons, the production navigates the expansive world of black aquatic history and myth.
Being able to evoke a closed, synthetic environment that could mutate to become a natural world that holds mythic possibility, including ideas of Mami Wata and Afro-futurist notions of Drexciya, were key to choices around material, texture and composition.
