How I learned to Swim by Somebody Jones
How I learned to Swim by Somebody Jones

Prentice Productions in association with Brixton house.

A touring production to Roundabout, Edinburgh Fringe festival, Brixton House and Bristol Old vic.

Directed by Emma Jude Harris

Jamie doesn't know how to swim. Through the lens of her pool lessons, the production navigates the expansive world of black aquatic history and myth.

Being able to evoke a closed, synthetic environment that could mutate to become a natural world that holds mythic possibility, including ideas of Mami Wata and Afro-futurist notions of Drexciya, were key to choices around material, texture and composition.
